Fake News – U.S. Bomber Crosses Russian Border

Some of us are better than others at spotting photoshopped images, or deep fake videos.
Maybe there’s something off in the audio/video quality, or the lighting isn’t quite matching up. And while many of us can spot these discrepancies there are many others who can’t due to anything from tech-savviness to confirmation bias.
Case in point, a video went around not too long ago that claimed Ukrainians were attacking Russian tanks with American FGM-148 Javelin missiles.
It was in fact (as reported by the Associated Press) from a video game known as ‘Arma 3’.

To make matters even worse.
It wasn’t even the first time this video game footage was used to mislead the public, having been used in other previous wars with similarly misleading headlines.
To most gamers this footage is instantly seen as computer-generated game footage due to the quality, animation and effects.

What’s video game footage to most could be real-world footage to others unfamiliar with cut-scene design.
